Our concept of community extends far beyond the physical boundaries of the campus and our commitment to creating belonging resonates with every individual, regardless of their abilities or life stage. The acceptance of people for who they are lies at the core of VMRC's identity, creating an environment where everyone is warmly welcomed and recognized as an individual. Our variety of events and programs caters to a wide range of passions, ensuring that there is always something for everyone.
We recently hosted a unique event that epitomizes the spirit of celebration within VMRC – "Bach on the Farm." This event, a joint effort by the Shenandoah Valley Bach Festival and VMRC is more than just a gathering; it's a celebration of the donors who support the foundation. Resident and foundation donor, Dave Eshleman, shared, “It’s a chance to visit in the fellowship of others who share the same vision for the future of VMRC.” Guests enjoyed beautiful music and a delicious meal at VMRC’s own The Farm at Willow Run, our innovative approach to a farm-to-table food system across our campus.
Giving at VMRC started with our founder, George B. Showalter, who dedicated a segment of his estate to establish assisted living and nursing home facilities within a faith-based environment for seniors without the means to self-care. Nearly seven decades on, VMRC remains steadfast in its initial mission of aiding individuals to age gracefully and live life to the fullest, irrespective of their financial circumstances.
The VMRC Foundation plays a pivotal role in sustaining VMRC's mission. From supporting nurse education to organizing educational events and providing assistance to those in financial need, the Foundation ensures that VMRC's commitment to its residents and the broader community remains unwavering. Donors giving to the Good Samaritan Annual Fund and the Compassion Endowment help cover the cost of care for residents in Assisted Living and nursing home care in Woodland Park who have exhausted their financial resources.
Being a part of VMRC is a profound and transformative experience. It's a commitment to inclusivity, a celebration of diversity and a dedication to making a positive impact on the lives of individuals at every stage. We are constantly reminded of the richness that comes from connecting with people of different backgrounds, experiences, and aspirations.
