A Heartwarming Night at VMRC's Celebration of Lights
On December 7th, the VMRC Foundation held its annual Celebration of Lights, a holiday service to honor and remember loved ones. The beautiful evening was filled with music, joy and reflection.
The Detwiler Auditorium resonated with the sounds of a choir and a trombone ensemble. Mr. Jefferson's Bones, a group of talented trombonists in the Shenandoah Valley, brought joy to audiences as they opened service. The Pilgrim Ensemble, a twelve-voice singing group from the Pilgrim Fellowship Church in Stuarts Draft, Virginia, filled the air with joyful carols and hymns.
Scripture Readers Ann Rocap, a VMRC resident; Kristin Trask, Director of Assisted Living; and Heather Lankford, Foundation Assistant, read from the book of Isaiah, chapter 9.
In addition to the beautiful music and reading, the event also served a vital purpose. Proceeds from the Celebration of Lights went towards the Good Samaritan Annual Fund, supporting compassionate care for VMRC residents in need. This fund ensures that no resident faces financial hardship when accessing the care they deserve.
Between 24-36 residents receive Compassion Funds at any one time. The Good Samaritan Annual Fund plays a vital role in providing this essential support.
The evening culminated in a delightful reception on Park Gables Main Street, providing a chance for guests to mingle and share in the spirit of the season.
