Spiritual Life at VMRC

Strengthening Our Community Through Faith, Compassion and Hope

We nurture spiritual growth through opportunities for worship, Bible study, prayer and fellowship. Our Mennonite heritage guide us and the spiritual diversity of many faith traditions represented on our campus enriches us all.

Enriching Spiritual Life

Sunday Worship

Live-streamed on internal channels

Each week our chaplains lead worship supported by a dedicated team of volunteers who provide hospitality and music. On most Sundays, guest speakers from a variety of Christian traditions share the message.

Vesper Services

Sunday afternoons in Detwiler Auditorium

These monthly afternoon services typically include the gifts of musicians and vocalists from around the area.

Bible Studies

Bible Studies are offered at various times, in numerous neighborhoods across campus.

Hilltop Reflections

Hilltop Reflections are contemplative gatherings on VMRC’s Farm at Willow Run. They are typically scheduled between May and October.

Prayer

Chaplains are always available to support residents with prayer either one-on-one or with others. Opportunities for gathered prayer include prayer groups and walks throughout campus.

The Prayer and Meditation Room is a dedicated space for residents, families and staff to use as needed.

Elder Exchange

The Elder Exchange is an academic forum about faith and life. Each month, presenters share on a topic, inviting responders and group dialogue to discern its resonance with vibrant Christian faith. Program information can be found under Events and the Blog.

Our Pastoral Care Team: Cultivating Compassion, Integrity and Respect

The members of our pastoral care team serve from a deep commitment to the Christian Faith. At the same time, the chaplains are available to support the entire community, including short-term, Transitional Care patients, regardless of faith practice or background.

The team provides pastoral care and end-of-life and bereavement support.
